EverQuest Creator Working on New MMORPG, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

Brad McQuaid, the creator of the popular MMORPG EverQuest, is working on a new MMO project, and has taken to Kickstarter for funding.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen will be a "group-focused MMORPG based on challenging gameplay and open world high fantasy." Combat will emphasise group coordination, strategy, and quick reactions, while the world will be huge and non-linear.

"We're identifying a target audience, and we're going to focus on them and make a really great game for them," McQuaid told PC Gamer. "We're not going to concern ourselves with the fact that there may be other MMO fans who may not like our game."

While the game will focus on "challenging" content, McQuaid has stressed that this does not mean it will be tedious. "We're not going to put in repetitive content or grinding just to make the game more 'difficult' or to slow down the gamers."

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has an initial funding goal of US$800,000 (around NZ$950,000), and has "stretch goals" reaching as far as $6,700,000. The more funding received, the more content the developers will be able to include in the game.
